Cosmic Pneuma
Type Exhibition Identity, Publication

Brief Cosmic Pneuma is an exhibition covering topics relating to Spirituality in Art and Architecture. Meaning “breath of life” in Greek, the word pneuma comes to represent the human instinct of creativity. The goal of this publication and exhibition was to show how creativity and spirituality have been intertwined since the beginning of time.

To show the cyclical nature of time, the publication taps into the visual metaphors of mirroring and the sun. This allows the publication to be read in 2 different orientations. Depending on the entry point, the reader is met with either historical content or contemporary art from the exhibiting artists. However, both sides are reflections of the same concept. For example, the contemporary side explores Agnes Martin’s return to art thanks to meditation and the historical side explains the early development and significance of meditation practices. Typography is used to further the distinction between the two sides. The visual language of the publication carries through to out of home applications and the title wall of the exhibition.
