List Arts Center
Type Visual Identity, Generative Design
Brief List Arts Center is the contemporary art museum on campus at MIT. This project looks at the semantic value of the name/word “List” to create new organizational methodologies that reflect the Center's commitment to the dissemination of knowledge. Through a new visual identity, awareness of the List is raised on a state and national level.

Using the logotype itself as a grid, a typeface was developed that allows the List to have its own typographic voice. This voice is used in a range of applications to communicate general awareness, exhibitions and events. Processing and p5.js were used to create unique brand motion behavior as well as image treatment models. The use of code allows for a certain amount of randomness within set parameters as well as easy hand off to other designers to work with brand assets.
The visual system extends from print to spatial applications. I reimagined the space of List Arts Center to be more future forward and in line with their goals of expansion. The spatial applications range from expressive to functional.
The website of the List Arts Center explores how it can use digital experiences to enhance the visual language through interactivity and flexible widths.
